Rachel and Mrs. Price are both credible characters because Rachel’s birthday was ruined, she cried, and Rachel’s teacher did not believe her. Rachel’s birthday was ruined because of a sweater. Rachel had to put on an ugly red sweater that wasn’t hers. This is why Rachel is a believable character because this can happen to any kid that can have their birthday ruined by something that really doesn’t matter. Rachel is a believable character because she cried when she did not stand up for herself. She did not stand up to the teacher and tell her that it wasn’t her sweater. Rachel was timid and didn’t want to get in trouble, so she cried about it. A lot of kids and ALSO ADULTS cry about their problems in life and kids cry about things at school.
Morales, Karen March 3, 2009 Period 2-3 Becky Essay The story “Becky and the Wheels-and-Brake Boys” was written by James berry. It is about a girl named Becky who really wants a bike but can’t get one at the end of the story. Becky is a credible character because what she feels, says, and does. Becky is a believable because she wants to fit in with the other children. For example, Becky thinks, “ I only want to be with Nat, Aldo, Jimmy, and Ben.” The whole group has bikes and she wants one too, so she can ride and play with them. This proves that Becky is a believable character because she wants to fit in just like any kid would. Becky keeps asking her mom for a bike. Becky says to herself, “Over and over I told my mum I wanted a bike.” A while later she tells her mother, “I still want a bike badly.” In order to set what she wants, Becky thinks she has to ask several times and give reasons for how she feels toward the item. This shows Becky is a credible character because almost all kids love begging for things until they get it. Finally, another reason that Becky is a credible character character is because she always fought with her friend. As an example, Becky thinks, “For the first time me and Shirnette had a real fight, because of what she hated most.” Shirnette wanted to get back at Becky because Becky had put a centipede up her shirt, so she got even by putting a cockroach in Becky’s blouse. Becky is a realistic character because a lot of friends fight, and then make up. In conclusion, Becky, the main character in “Becky and the Wheels-and- Brake Boys” is believable because of her emotions, her words, and her actions. That means that she is your average child.
